SOLO FX SHOW 2018 Schedule
9 realistic dishes explore the present, past—and sometimes the future—of meats
that have had a strong impact on the world in the 20th and 21st centuries—and continue to hold currency today.
The experienced VFX artist, Isabelle Chen, was inspired to make experiment in meats by bringing dead parts to live.
Presented in anticipation of Loop animations, astonishingly ambitious and hyperkinetic digital works involves a paranoid mathematician’s messianic quest to unlock the hidden patterns of nature through procedural programming for animations, texturing and particle simulations.
Among those plates are pieces as common as smoked turkey leg, beef burger, and eggs, and as delicate and culturally charged as the crab with pesto sauce, seafood pasta, and lamb shanks in red wine sauce.
Using Cinema 4D and Octane Engine, as well as digital installations, Isabelle gives breath to the meat on plate instead of forcing audience to witness the death of one's meat.
